Podcasting is fun, exciting, and just something you can really just love doing – but, sometimes, you have to get tactical and strategical, which ties us into how you’re going to get more eyes (or rather, ears) on your podcast. Let’s talk about the best ways to improve your podcast’s visibility.
What does it mean to improve your podcast’s visibility? Essentially, you’re increasing the amount of listeners to your podcast. You’re improving their ability to discover, and listen, to your episodes – and increase their chances of following.
These visibility strategies are not just for beginners, they’re for established podcasters too.

While there are nearly limitless ways to get more listeners, we’re going to focus on the three main ways to improve your podcast’s visibility. They’re strategic, they’re impactful, and they’re perfect for you to implement ASAP.
Lastly, it’s stuff you need to have a successful podcast to begin with – you’re just going to take it one step further. Here are three ways to improve your podcast’s visibility:
The first thing that your listeners see is your cover art. Whether they’re hopping on to listen to your latest episode or they’re looking for their new favorite podcast in search – your cover art is what they see and is what’s going to leave that initial impression.
Now, good cover art is more than just your podcast’s title or your brand’s name. And you’re going to need to go beyond a solid color background with some text on it. Instead, your podcast cover art needs to have YOU. It needs your personality, your vibe, and your brand.
Essentially, your podcast cover art should be legible and include a photo of you, your podcast title, and your tagline. And it should, of course, match your branding. Cohesion is key!
I know you want to be cute and clever, but your podcast title is not the place. Sometimes it works when your audience can kinda know what it’s about, but when it’s cutesy or witty and vague – no one knows what to expect, so no one really feels inclined to listen.
You want to optimize your podcast title for visibility and SEO. Podcast SEO allows you to show up for what you want to be known for. For example, if your target audience is looking for a podcast to support virtual assistants, they might search “virtual assistants” and find a podcast with a related title and give it a listen.
If you’re stuck on your podcast name, get some support from your community. Run on a poll on your Instagram stories or post in a podcasting community.
You have their interest from your cover art and podcast title, now they need to know what episode to listen to to find what they need and start trusting your expertise – you have to craft the perfect episode title!
The ideal episode title is not too long, nor too short, and shouldn’t be vague, but it also shouldn’t give everything away. Your episode title should entice them to listen and click play. For example, rather than listing the three things to improve your podcast visibility in the episode title, you would say “The Three Most Important Things to Increase Your Podcast’s Visibility.”
Now, you want to know those three things because you want to improve your visibility, so you’re going to click and listen. The same applies to your audience and podcast!
If you haven’t launched your podcast yet, do some keyword research and try your best to integrate it into your podcast title, cover, and description. You’ll also want to let it influence the episodes you create or plan to create.
If you already have a podcast, take some time to go back and update your old episode titles or your cover art. And, if you don’t know if you need to make any changes to your current podcast, ask in my private support community, Moms Who Podcast, on Facebook.
