I'm Pamela

There are legitimately so many reasons why it is so important for you to have a website for your business. Let’s help gain you some clarity on why it’s probably time for a website for your business! If you’re a business owner, if you sell a product or a service…basically, if you are in the online space at all selling anything, you need a website, plain and simple.

So we’re going to dive into six reasons why I feel this way, and before I do, I just want to set a little disclaimer. I want to encourage you to read these tips with an open heart and an open mind and know that I am speaking from my heart and I’m also speaking through personal experience not only as a web designer but as a business owner, too.

1. Having a Website for Your Business Builds Credibility, Trust, and Authority.

It is no secret that having a website is instantly something that makes you more professional. It also builds credibility, trust and authority. If you’re thinking “What does she mean by that?” Let me tell you!

So for example, if I’m talking to someone and they’re like “Hey, I know this cool place and it just opened up and it’s really awesome”

I’m instantly Googling it. I’m looking for their website. I’m looking for the address. I want to know where it’s located. I want to know all about this business that I just found out about. When you have a business, it makes you instantly look more professional because if somebody tells someone about you and your work, and you have a website, they know exactly what you offer. On the other hand, if you don’t, well, that potential client wouldn’t know what you offer without having to do more work on their end.

2. Your Website Is Your Home on the Internet

Honestly, this is probably the most important thing on this list. Your website is your one-stop shop for everything. So, no matter what it is that you’re selling, your website has all of that information. For example, when you go to my website, you can see everything. You know what I do, who I serve, the services I provide, how to work with me, and how to contact me.

You can book a call with me there. My email is on there. Literally, everything is on my website. So it’s not even that it’s important…it’s just smart. It’s so smart to have everything on your website.

That way, when you’re giving your information out and you’re giving your website URL out, potential clients can just go to your website and have everything they need. They don’t have to ask you hardly any questions because everything is on your website. So, let me give you another example of this. When I first started my business as a virtual assistant, I didn’t have a website for my business right away, because let’s be honest…I’m just gonna digress a little bit here.

If you are just starting out in your business…you don’t need a website right now. However, eventually… in the coming weeks or months, you are going to need one. But back to my example, I told people that I was a virtual assistant. Once I started telling people, they wanted to know my packages, what I offered, they wanted to know my prices, how it all worked, and how we would work together. So because I didn’t have a website, I would be constantly repeating myself in direct messages on social media.

It was honestly really annoying because I was saying the same thing to multiple people and I had to just keep typing it all out. I think I might have had notes on my phone, like some pre-typed out text, so I didn’t have to copy everything, but it was still annoying and it was just not ideal.

The goal is to get everything on your website. Then when the time comes for you to tell somebody about your services, you can just give them your website. I personally was so happy when my website was live for my business because I could just direct people to my website. I did not have to go over my packages or anything in direct messages anymore.

3. You Can Utilize and Grow Your Email List

For example, I have an amazing freebie on my website. So when somebody signs up for my freebie through my website, they get added to my email list, and…let’s just talk about the scary stuff for a second. What happens if social media were to go away? What happens if people stop using Instagram and go over to TikTok? Or vice versa? You simply cannot rely on social media platforms. And that is just a whole other topic in itself, but you really cannot rely on social media. You do not own your social media account.

It could be gone at any given time. You could get suspended or hacked. You don’t own your followers. You do not own the platform. You don’t own any of that. So I could go on and on, but you should not rely on social media platforms.

Your website is your home. You can build your email list. You own your email list. You own your website. There’s nothing better than owning your own stuff.

Pssst. If you’d like to start your email list, I highly suggest using Mailerlite or Converkit, they’re both free! I personally use Flodesk though and I love it!

4. People May Question the Legitimacy of Your Business

Having a website for your business can show potential clients the most important things. And, that kind of ties back into how your website really is your home online. If you don’t have a website for your business and you’re running it through social media that is soooo dangerous, friend! And it may just scare some potential clients away because they’re questioning the legitimacy of your business.

5. Having a Website For Your Business Increases Your Chance of Getting Leads

If you have your website with everything on it, people know what you’re about, and what you do…they are gonna going to want to work with you. Now that goes hand in hand with copy, how your website looks, and how user-friendly it is. But, if you have these things in place you’re more than likely to get leads from it because you have all the information there. Of course, they might have some questions, but they will have everything they need at the moment and they just need to book a call with you to find out more if there are further questions.

6. Having a Website For Your Business Increases Visibility With Organic Traffic

Your website can get organic traffic, which happens when the proper SEO is in place.

SEO stands for search engine optimization, and that is in a nutshell, basically when people are searching for something in Google or any type of search bar and end up finding you. So if you think of a Google search bar, podcast search bar, Pinterest search bar, or Instagram search bar…that’s all a form of SEO.

That is what they’re typing in to get what they need. So having a website, and having proper SEO in place is going to bring organic traffic to your website which means more leads and more leads equals more money!

Final Thoughts on Why Having a Website For Your Business Is So Important

I do want to clarify a few things with all this being said. Only you know when the right time is to have a website for your business. It might not be right now. It might not be for a while, but that’s something only you can decide. Let’s also quickly bust a few myths about having a website for your business.

You do not need to spend thousands of dollars on a website. You truly do not. And yes, there are a lot of options out there and it can be overwhelming and it can be scary. But the truth is, is that it doesn’t have to be expensive if you are in a good place financially. If you can afford an $8,000 website, that is amazing and that website is going to do wonders for you and your business.

However, not everybody can afford that, especially when you’re just starting out. So do not feel like you have to spend thousands of dollars on your website because the truth is, is that you do not.

Now I design websites on Showit, and I have looked at and used my fair share of website platforms. Showit is by far my favorite and it is by far the easiest because it is a drag-and-drop website platform that’s integrated with WordPress. You can visit my shop and you can look at my templates and my services and see if it would be a fit for you!

“That’s a game character’s life, too,” Sam said. “The world of infinite restarts. Start again at the beginning, this time you might win. And it’s not as if all our results were bad. I love the things we made. We were a great team.” Sam offered Sadie his hand, and she shook it. She pulled him into her, and she kissed Sam on the cheek.
